Step into your Salesforce career

September 19th, 2021 Posted by Careers, Training & Certification 0 thoughts on “Step into your Salesforce career”

These days not everybody takes the traditional route of college, university, job, then success. With incredibly high tuition fees in the UK, it is no wonder many young people seek alternative routes to employment. I am one of those people. I did a web developer apprenticeship after college, and after completion of this was introduced to Salesforce by my employer at the time. Since then I transitioned into a Salesforce role and now find myself at Trigg Digital 5 years later.

During my journey, I have seen many new Salesforce specific opportunities carving their way into the employment and training landscape for the next generation of young people (correction – since 2017, apprenticeships are now accessible to 16-60 year olds).

What does Salesforce have to offer?

The Salesforce ecosystem continues to grow and shows no signs of slowing down soon. It is estimated that Salesforce will create 3.3 million jobs globally by 2022, 114k of those in the UK alone. As well as $859b predicted to be generated from cloud computing by Salesforce customers and the ecosystem globally, $65.6bn of which by the UK.

At the same time, the UK is experiencing a digital skills shortage, of which are critical to economic recovery following the recent lockdowns.

Pre-covid times, the government set out an initiative to achieve 3 million apprenticeship starts by 2020 as well as introducing the Apprenticeship Levy for companies with an annual pay bill over £3million. Unfortunately, we fell short of almost a million with just over 2 million apprenticeship starts. Watch out for the impending government initiative to tackle the growing UK digital skills gap in a time which has never been so important.

So what are the options currently?

Bootcamps

  • LDN Apprenticeships offer a free 2 week Talent path to South Londoners to introduce you to the Salesforce world, learn the skills required to be successful and become certified Salesforce professionals with the ability to secure employment in the Salesforce ecosystem.
  • Salesforce partnered with QA to offer an 11 week BCS accredited Talent Academy, providing authorised Salesforce training courses – certification included, and talent solutions. QA then deploy project ready Tech specialists into the Salesforce space and continue to provide ongoing personal development support.

‘Salesforce has said it aims to add over 100,000 new skilled jobs to the UK market over the next four years through a partnership with training provider QA.’

Apprenticeships

Apprenticeships provide hands-on, corporate experience to help develop and train the workforce of tomorrow. Here are just a couple of examples of some apprenticeships available, to find more you can use the Find an apprenticeship service on the Gov.uk site.

  • Salesforce Administrator, Level 3 BTEC – The LDN Salesforce Administrator Apprenticeship is aligned to the Level 3 Digital Applications Technician Apprenticeship Standard, and works towards a Salesforce Certification within nine months of starting the programme.
  • Salesforce Consultant, Level 4 BTEC – This unique Salesforce Consultant programme is aligned to the foundation degree level Business Analyst Apprenticeship standard. Apprentices gain the Salesforce Certified Administrator credential and at least one other Salesforce credential, alongside the Business Analyst Apprenticeship.
